A platform for survivors of abuse and support networks is launched!

Hashtivism on social media has not only been a tool of empowerment for women, it has also highlighted important issues that until now have been considered taboo subjects. While these conversations are vital, we have to think of life beyond the hashtag and work towards an end to violence against women.
For Women is a platform that brings together public, private and non-profit organisations who have vowed to put an end to women abuse, so that survivors can access the assistance they need right away. For Women also enables corporate South Africa as well as ordinary South Africans who want to take a stand, to easily connect with organisations who need their help.
Powered by Forgood, the initiative was developed by 1st for Women Insurance who, over the past 12 years, has donated over R56 million to organisations that fight abuse.
The platform aims to address women abuse through three key pillars:
  • Prevention: Organisations that work to address the multiple and often interlinked causes of abuse.
  • Preparation: Organisations that empower women with the tools they need to overcome this social tragedy.
  • Provision: – Organisations that can support and assist abuse survivors on their journey.
For Women has been endorsed by the Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Women, Susan Shabangu, who has welcomed 1st for Women’s efforts to putting an end to the vicious cycle of women abuse.
The time has come for society as a collective to actively take a stand against the abuse of women. As a brand for women, 1st For Women pledges to play a role in making that difference, fight beyond the hashtag and stamp out abuse.
